Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorate celebrates 15th anniversary

KUWAIT, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorate, the sixth governorate to be established in Kuwait, will celebrate its 15th anniversary on Friday.
On an Amiri decree issued on November 27th, 1999, the governorate was established and then named after Kuwait's seventh ruler Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah.
Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorate covers an area of 104 square kilometers and consists of 12 residential areas. According to recent official statistics, Mubarak Al-Kabeer is home for over 250,000 people and the area is expected to grow in population by 70,000 people.
Three officials took on the responsibility of governor in Mubarak Al-Kabeer. Sheikh Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was governor from 1999-2006 followed by Sheikh Ali Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah from 2006-2014, and Ahmad Abdelatif Al-Rjaib since 2014. (end) as.gta
