Outgoing envoy hopes for more promotion of ties between Kuwait, Zimbabwe

KUWAIT, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait and Zimbabwe should work on promoting bilateral ties at all levels in the foreseeable future, Kuwait's outgoing Ambassador to Zimbabwe Ahmad Khaled Al-Jiran expressed aspirations on Friday.
This remark was made by the envoy, who's ending his tenure, during a meeting with Zimbabawe Foreign Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Kuwaiti embassy in the Capital Harare said in a press statement.
The Kuwaiti Ambassador highlighted the diplomatic ties between Kuwait and Zimbabwe that was establish since 1991. He also stressed the African country's supporting role to Kuwait during the Iraqi aggression of 1990 when Zimbabwe was a non-permanent member at the US Security Council.
Kuwait and Zimbabwe have signed many trade and economic agreements, noting the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has funded many infrastructural projects there.
Earlier, Al-Jiran met with Zimbabwe Vice President Phekezela Mphoko where the latter expressed aspiration to establish more ties with the Gulf country.
On his part, the outgoing Ambassador thanked the Government of Zimbabwe for offering all facilitations during his tenure. (end) tma.nfm
