Initial information Confirms Iran's "involvement" - BNA

KUWAIT, July 28 (KUNA) -- Initial information "confirmed" Iran's involvement in Sitra's blast that killed two policemen and severely wounded another, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported on Tuesday.
It added that the explosives used in the attack were similar to those seized last Saturday by security forces after being smuggled from Iran.
"Early information suggests that the explosives used in today's terrorist attack are of the same type that were recently intercepted coming from Iran," BNA said.
A statement by the Ministry of Interior said that one of the people arrested in the blast received training in Iran in 2013; another confessed coordinating with Iranians to smuggle about 43 kg of C-4 explosives by sea into Bahrain.
They also confessed of two weapons smuggling operations in 2013 and 2014 during fishing trips where they received explosive materials from Iranian boats.
Earlier, Bahrain recalled its ambassador from Iran for consultations over "aggressive statements" from Iran. It hoped that normal bilateral relations would resume as normal on the basis of a policy of non-interference good neighborliness. (end) fs.nfm
