Kuwait opens crafts' school in Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has opened Al-Mubarakiya Crafts School and multi-purpose hall in Banda Aceh, Indonesia on Sunday, as part of Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Village.
The project was named after His Highness the late Amir of Kuwait in appreciation for his humanitarian efforts all over the world, Chairman of KRCS Dr. Helal Al-Sayer told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The village project was first initiated by the society's late chairman Barjas Al-Barjas, who exerted great efforts to aid people in Indonesia on all levels, said Al-Sayer The village, located in the area previously struck by tsunami in 2004, contains 150 houses, a mosque, a medical center and Al-Mubarakiya School, he added.
Meanwhile, the Chairman noted that KRCS had contributed to rebuilding Panda Aceh after the deadly tsunami disaster, as Kuwait was among the top countries in providing humanitarian aid to those affected.
The society had executed several projects in the area, which was also struck by multiple earthquakes, including water purification stations, developing infrastructure, orphanage, providing 300 fishing boats, heavy equipment for paving roads and relief supplies, said Al-Sayer.(end) mam.ag
