KUWAIT, June 26 (KUNA) -- At least 27 people were killed and 227 others injured in the heinous blast at the Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in downtown Kuwait city on Friday, the Health Minister Dr. Ali Al-Obaidi told KUNA.
The ministry has mobilised all its resources and announced a state of emergency to receive the injured people, he added, noting that at least 35 ambulances have been dispatched shortly after the blast took place, the first of which arrived at the site in 15 minutes time.
At least 130 injured people were transported to the nearby Amiri hospital while 38 others and three martyrs were rushed to Mubarak Al-Kabeer hospital, the minister said, adding that 27 injured people and three other martyrs were transported to the Al-Sabah hospital and nine wounded people were delivered to Al-Farwaniya hospital, while two others were rushed to AL-Adan hospital.
It took the health ministry 90 minutes to contain the crisis, the minister said, noting that all health ministry staff have been called in. (end) mf.bz
