KUWAIT, May 26 (KUNA) -- The long-term strategies of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) dovetail harmoniously with the nation's goals for achieving sustainable growth and development, said a Kuwaiti minister on Tuesday.
Attending KISR's annual meeting for giving out awards to those who have exhibited scientific prowess and excellence, Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Bader Al-Eissa said in a speech at the meeting that Kuwait was deeply interested in the scientific research carried out by KISR and those associated with it.
He urged the need to foster those with the gift of carrying out scientific research with the aim of benefiting Kuwaiti society. He said the government supported coordination and cooperation between the nation's scientific and technical institutes and those involved in applying results of scientific research to their manufacturing capabilities.
In that vein, the minister applauded KISR's continuing scientific endeavors which have resulted in the establishment of four major research centers : The Center for Petroleum Research, The Center for Water Research (recently endorsed by UNESCO as a regional and international center), The Center for Energy and Construction, and The Center for Environment and Bio-Technology.
He said he was very proud of the work being done by all these centers which serve the needs of growth and development and future advancement of the country. (end) mf.ajs
