DOHA, May 23 (KUNA) -- A committee of senior officials met here Saturday in preparation for an EU-GCC joint ministerial meeting to be hosted by Qatar on Sunday.
In a statement to KUNA, deputy director of GCC department affairs at Kuwait's Foreign Ministry Abdullah Mohammad Al-Mawed said the meeting discussed all joint topics between the EU-GCC sides, especially those related to international and regional situations.
Al-Mawed, head of Kuwait's delegation to the gathering, said the topics discussed covered a number of regional issues on countries like Yemen, Syria and Iraq and some related to "combating terrorism".
He referred to positive outcomes of the meeting of EU-GCC senior officials in Brussels on May 5 that discussed a number of issues of common concern.
He underlined the importance of such meetings to discuss the EU-GCC relations and issues that interest the two sides.
Al-Mawed described these relations as "distinguished", noting they have been developed in several cooperative fields.
The EU-GCC meeting will convene here on Sunday to consider regional and international issues of common concern, and joint relations and cooperation. (end) nnd.maa.hm
