Egypt executes 6 in "Arab Sharkas" case

CAIRO, May 17 (KUNA) -- Egypt's prison service sector executed six detainees in the "Arab Sharkas terrorist cell case" on Sunday, an official source told the official Middle East News Agency (MENA).
Last August, the Egyptian military court sentenced the six men to death after being convicted of participating in an attack on an army personnel carrier in Amireyyah, Cairo.
The detainees were also accused of killing officers at a military police checkpoint at Musturud, South Cairo, while also killing members in the Egyptian armed forces in Arab Sharkas, a village north of Cairo, when an army unit raided a disused warehouse in an attempt to capture them on March 2014. The court charged the men with being members of Ansar Bait Al-Maqdis "terrorist group," planning terrorist attacks, receiving military training, opening fire on ships and attacking military facilities.(end) aff.ag
