KUWAIT, May 3 (KUNA) -- Cancer Awareness Nation (CAN) launched a campaign Sunday to raise awareness about early detection of uterine cancer under the theme, Reconsider.
"The theme urges women to rethink their personal and family priorities, as well as getting familiarized with and be aware of all prevention methods," said CAN board member Dr. Hessa Al-Shaheen in a press conference.
She noted that the campaign will run throughout the month of May and will include seminars and lectures to be held in schools and public venues, in addition to holding exhibitions and distributing pamphlets.
Dr. Al-Shaheen said the uterine cancer is among the 10 most prevalent cancers Kuwaiti women suffer from, yet curable if detected early on.
The campaign is sponsored by Sheikha Hessa Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, who has been nominated as honorary chairwoman of the GCC federation for cancer prevention. (end) shd.hb
