KUWAIT, April 12 (KUNA) -- Minister of Social Affairs and Labour and Minister of Planning and Development Hind Al-Sabeeh stressed here on Sunday the importance of the celebration of "Arab Orphan Day", noting the steps taken by Kuwait in the legislation of laws to secure their future.
The minister said, in her speech before the annual ceremony for the "Arab Orphan Day", which was held at the Jumeirah Hotel today, that the ministry has been keen to organize this event annually since 2007.
She added that Kuwait has formulated its policy towards caring for orphans according to Islamic Sharia (law), which considered the care and attention rendered to the orphan as a kind of obedience to Allah Almighty.
The minister noted that the progress of societies is measured by how well they care for the persons with special needs, whose circumstances and potential hamper them from coping with the demands of life or achieve complete compatibility with the community.
She explained that the steps taken by Kuwait in the legislation of laws to protect and secure the future of the orphans are designed to nurture conscious generations that are aware of their nationalist message, cling to its faith and are loyal to their homeland, as well as committed to the principles of truth and goodness and look towards the ideals of conduct and ethics.
