Peace in Yemen through UN desirable - Omani FM

MUSCAT, April 8 (KUNA) -- Everyone is looking for a way by which a UN initiative could be hammered out on the crisis in Yemen that would be amenable regionally and internationally, said Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi on Wednesday.
In a joint press conference with his visiting Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, held after their official talks, the Omani minister said that Oman and GCC states and others were striving to address the situation in Yemen, in particular the difficult conditions the Yemeni people were facing.
Stressing the need to give priority to allowing the entry of humanitarian relief aid to the Yemeni people, he expressed hope that international efforts at seeking a truce, however brief, would be successful to enable relief aid organizations from distributing food and medicine to the Yemeni people affected by the current crisis.
He affirmed that Oman would welcome relief aid organizations, including the ICRC, to come to Oman to discuss bringing relief aid to the Yemenis across the shared Omani-Yemeni border. (pick up previous) ahr.ajs
