15 airstrikes hit ISIL targets in Syria, Iraq - US army

WASHINGTON, April 5 (KUNA) -- The US-led coalition against ISIL launched 15 more airstrikes in Syria and Iraq on Saturday, the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a statement.
In Syria, attack aircraft and drones launched three airstrikes: two near Al Hasakah, which struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed five fighting positions and an ISIL vehicle, and near Ar Raqqah, where one airstrike "destroyed an ISIL armored personnel carrier, the statement revealed.
In Iraq, attack and fighter aircraft as well as drones launched 12 airstrikes: near Al Qaim, where one airstrike destroyed an ISIL vehicle, and near Bayji, where another struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL vehicle, CJTF-OIR said.
Near Fallujah, two airstrikes struck 10 improvised explosive device (IED) facilities, while near Mosul, five airstrikes struck an ISIL tactical unit, an ISIL IED production facility and destroyed two ISIL fighting positions and an ISIL vehicle, the coalition said.
Near Ramadi, one airstrike "destroyed an ISIL heavy machine gun and an ISIL vehicle, and near Sinjar, another struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL fighting position, an ISIL heavy machine gun and an ISIL building, it added.
Finally near Tal Afar, one airstrike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL heavy machine gun and ISIL fighting position, the statement affirmed.
It was not revealed which partner nations participated in this round of airstrikes. (end) ys.bs
