Amos says humanitarian situation in Syria complex, deteriorating

KUWAIT, March 31 (KUNA) -- UN Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief coordinator Valerie Amos said Tuesday the humanitarian situation in Syria was very complex and deteriorating with every passing day.
Amos, at a news conference between the first and second sessions of the Third International Pledging Humanitarian Conference on Syria, said the Syrian crisis has left more than 12 million people homeless and in dire need of urgent aid.
She said assistance was urgently needed for the Syrian internally displaced and refugees, as well as host communities.
She urged donors to be generous and help the Syrian people to help them ease their suffering.
The second session of the aid-pledging conference began and more delegates were giving their speeches. (pickup previous) kt.bs
