KUWAIT, March 30 (KUNA) -- Amiri Diwan Advisor and head of the state conferences' media committee Mohammad Abulhassan said that providing assistance to the Syrian conflict is a "religious and humanitarian duty for all." Speaking to KUNA as he was touring the media centre for the Third International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria he expressed hope that pledges made at the current talks are larger than last year in the wake of the rising number of refugees which has reached 12.5 million.
At Kuwait II, nations and NGOs pledged a total of USD 2.4 billion aimed at addressing the needs of Syrians displaced internally and whom fled as refugees to neighbouring countries amid the conflict which has entered its fifth year.
He pointed to the efforts of the youth amid media preparations, shortly before handing out shields of gratitude to relief bodies and UN agencies taking part in a supplementary exhibition. (end) kt.sd
