MANAMA, March 30 (KUNA) -- Hosting a third round of aid-pledging talks for the Syrian crisis in its third year outlines the continuing commitment of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait to the ailing humanitarian situation, a Bahraini official said.
While receiving Bahraini Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah, the King of Bahrain's Advisor for Media Affairs Nabil Al-Hamar described Kuwait as a "leading" nation in the field of humanitarian work on the global scale.
Supporting humanitarian affairs is at the forefront of His Highness the Amir's priorities, he viewed, and he hailed the cooperation of governments and international organisations attending the talks in Kuwait.
This reflects Kuwait's exceptional position in the field of humanitarian work, he added, and the efforts of His Highness the Amir have resulted in him being named UN Humanitarian Leader and his nation, Humanitarian Centre.
The Bahraini official went on to stress the importance of supporting the Syrian people who are living under tough humanitarian conditions as a result of the extreme conflict - most of whom have been sent fleeing to surrounding countries in fear of their safety. (end) mge.sd
