Saudi FM expresses surprise of Putin's message to Arab Summit

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt, March 29 (KUNA) -- Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal expressed surprise of the content of Russia's President Vladimir Putin's message to Arab Summit.
During his participation of the 26th Arab Summit, which concluded here Sunday, He asked Moscow to prove with actions its good intention towards Arab countries.
Al-Faisal said that it is amazing what has been mentioned in Putin's message about the recent troubles in the Middle East as if Russia has not been involved in it, particularly in Syria.
He said that Russian president talked about the tragic situation in Syria, despite the fact that Moscow is largely responsible for the Syrian people's suffering.
He argued that Russia continues arms and weapons supplies to the Syrian regime to kill its own people.
He also said that there are reports indicating that the Syrian regime has obtained lethal weapons, whose usage is prohibited international laws, from Russia, adding that Russia is prohibited by its own law to sell arms to countries that use them for attacking others.
Al-Faisal also wondered on how the Russian President call for a peaceful solution while he supports the Syrian regime at the same time, affirming that the Syrian regime has lost its legitimacy and any relation to the civilized world.
On March 28, Putin directed a message to Arab leaders at their Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, in which Arab League's Deputy Secretary-General Ahmad Bin Helli read out at the summit's closing session.
In his message, Putin expressed his country's support for Arab states' independence, affirming that Russia rejects all forms of foreign intervention in Arab countries' internal affairs.
He added that Moscow shares the Arab world's ambitions for a better future, and the settlement of all conflicts through peaceful means, without outside intervention.
Russia has great interest in solving the crisis in Syria, Libya and Yemen through dialogue and national reconciliations, Putin said.
