Photos' exhibitions showing Kuwait's humanitarian efforts

KUWAIT, March 29 (KUNA) -- Photos' exhibitions are held in shopping malls highlighting His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's humanitarian leadership, and ontributions of charitable societies and UN agencies to help the refugees, particularly Syrians.
The photos showed His Highness the Amir's UN honoring as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center" during a ceremony held in New York last September, and the first and second International Humanitarian Pledging Conferences for Syria.
Visitors of Marina Mall, Sulayyel Al-Jahra, the Gate Mall and 360 Mall will get acquainted with Kuwait's humanitarian assistance to the people in need, and specially the Syrians.
Humoud Al-Tamimi, in charge of Al-Rahma International Society's exhibition in the Gate Mall, the photos displayed the society's relief assistance for the Syrian people.
He said the visitors were keen on visiting the exhibition, noting that Al-Rahma society was collecting donations for the Syrian people.
Adnan Haidar, of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), said the society was displaying photos and a movie regarding the aid for the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan.
Some 12.5 million Syrians have been displaced internally and across neighbouring countries like Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, Iraq and Egypt, due to the conflict in their country that has entered a fifth year.
Kuwait hosted two events in 2013 and 2014 which raised pledges worth a total USD 3.9 billion - USD 1.5 billion and USD 2.4 billion respectively - from international donors aimed at alleviating their suffering.
At both, Kuwait donated a collective USD 800 million, including USD 300 million and USD 500 million. (end) kt.bs
