Exhibitions on Kuwait III fringes shed light on Syrian refugees' ordeal -- bin Redha

KUWAIT, March 23 (KUNA) -- The Media Committee of the Third International pledging Conference for the Syrian people will be organizing a variety of events aimed at shedding more light on plight of Syrians inside their countries and in neighboring nations.
The committee will be holding exhibitions in the Media Center of the March 31 donors' meeting, also known as Kuwait III, as well as in shopping malls with the aim of highlighting contributions of charitable societies and UN agencies to alleviate suffering of some 12.5 million Syrian people, said Mohammad bin Redha, in charge of the events, to be held on sidelines of the meeting.
Bin Redha, also a member in the media committee, told KUNA the exhibitions would be held in the Marina Mall, Sulayyel Al-Jahra, 360 Mall and the Gate Mall.
An exhibition of photos will be held at the Avenues Mall, displaying career of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the occasion of UN's honoring of the Kuwaiti Amir as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center," he added.
Bin Redha said another exhibition would be held displaying drawings of Syrian refugee children.
Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), he added, would display photos at the media center about its role in helping the Syrian people, either those internally displaced or refugees.
Kuwait hosted the first and second aid pledging conferences for Syria in 2013 and 2014. The events successfully raised USD 3.9 billion in aid pledges, USD 1.5 billion in the first and USD 2.4 billion in the second.
Kuwait donated a total of USD 800 million in the two conferences, USD 300 million in the first and USD 500 in the second.
Kuwait III is set to host 78 countries and more than 40 international organizations. (end) has.bs
