Syrian opposition lauds Kuwaiti support of Syrian people

CAIRO, March 17 (KUNA) -- The National Coordination Committee for the Forces of Democratic Change, a Syrian opposition bloc, appreciated Kuwait's role in supporting the Syrian people through hosting the third donors' conference on March 31st.
Kuwait is playing a positive role in solving many Arab issues, Hasan Abduladheem, chairman of the committee, told reporters Tuesday after meeting with Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby in the Egyptian capital.
Abduladheem also commended Kuwait's efforts in reaching a solution for the Syrian crisis, and to put an end for the people's suffering, which began in mid-March 2011.
Kuwait had hosted two donors' conferences for Syria in 2013 and 2014. Pledges of the first conference reached USD 1.5 billion while USD 2.4 billion in the second.
Kuwait donated USD 300 million and USD 500 million in the first and second meetings respectively. (end) mfm.ma
