KUWAIT, June 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti divers have lifted an abandoned three-ton net east of Doha port, in cooperation with the Cabinet committee of "removing encroachments on public properties." The neglected net was entangled at a depth of five meters, contributing to environmental pollution and hindering navigation. Though it was immense and heavy, Kuwait Dive Team of The Environmental Voluntary Foundation, managed to pull it to Al-Oshairej beach, using boats, then it was lifted from the waters with machines, said the head of the team, Walid Al-Shatti, to KUNA, on Tuesday.
He called for enforcing stiffer penalties on fishermen and sea-goers who violate the laws.
