KUWAIT, March 8 (KUNA) -- 1961 -- Al-Hadaf weekly magazine hits the stands.
1972 -- Kuwait establishes diplomatic ties with the UAE at ambassadorial level.
1972 -- Kuwait inaugurates its embassy in Indonesia.
1973 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues a decree stipulating establishment of the Refrigeration Industries Co. with a KD two million capital.
1978 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issues a decree endorsing the agreement signed in Riyadh in 1977 on establishment of a Gulf television authority.
1983 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah delivers a speech at the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in New Delhi in which he asserts the importance of these meetings to maintain basic objectives of the movement.
1991 -- Kuwait Television (KTV) starts transmission after the liberation from the Iraqi occupation with new equipment to replace those stolen and damaged.
1992 -- The Cabinet issues an order for the establishment of a national center for documents on the Iraqi invasion and occupation of Kuwait. It was later re-named Kuwait Center for Research and Studies.
1997 -- KSE index makes post-liberation record highs, with 329.98 million shares traded, valued at KD 89.7 million.
1998 -- The Society of Families of POWs elects its first board.
1999 -- Cabinet issues decision on launching a state award of merit to honor figures of considerable contribution to Kuwait's culture, with three winners to be selected each year. The prize, a medal, along with KD 10,000, is to be awarded in a special ceremony alongside the annual Al-Qurain Cultural Festival.
2000 -- In an unprecedented move, a group of Kuwaiti women representing the Women Committee - an offshoot of 16 Kuwaiti non-government organizations - files a lawsuit against the Interior Minister for his refusal to allow them to register as eligible voters.
2002 -- The "City Bus" project in action.
2004 -- National Assembly debates an interpellation motion filed by MP Musallam Al-Barrak against Minister of Finance Mahmoud Al-Nouri. The sessions ends with a vote of confidence in the minister. However, the Parliament, at a session on March 22, 2004, renews confidence Minister Al-Nouri.
2004 -- Qadsiya Sports Club wins Crown Prince's Football Cup.
2005 -- His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurates Sulaibiya Water Treatment Plant.
2010 -- Minister of Health Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer inaugurates Saad Al-Abdullah Health Center in Saad Al-Abdullah Housing District.
2010 -- Kuwaiti students win an Arab contest for manufacturing robots, held in Jordan.
