Asian member associations back Bahrain bid for CISM presidency

KUWAIT, Nov 28 (KUNA) -- The Asian member associations of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) agreed Thursday to support the candidacy of Lt.
-Col. Staff Abdulhakim Al-Shino, of Bahrain, for CISM presidency.
The elections of CISM president and board members are scheduled to be held during the CISM Congress, due in Ecuador in May, 2014, said Col. Amer Yasser, head of the sports competitions division of Kuwait Military Sports Association.
During their second regular General Assembly, the CISM-Asia member associations reached the agreement to back Lt.-Col. Staff Al-Shinoo in recognition of the long administrative experience he gained as Vice President of CISM-Asia, Col. Yasser told KUNA following the meeting.
"The session was held under auspices of Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah," he noted.
"Lt.-Col Staff Al-Shino's bid, if successful, will make it the first time for Asia to win the CISM presidency," Col. Yasser pointed out.
Beside Al-Shino, two other candidates are vying for the post, namely incumbent CISM President Col. Hamad Kalkabah - of Cameroon, and CISM President for Europe Col. Mesut Cerit- of Turkey, he added.
The three-day Second CISM-Asia General Assembly was opened on Tuesday by Chief of Military Training Dept. of the Kuwaiti Defense Ministry Maj.-Gen. Staff Anwar Jassem Al-Mezeidi.(end) bs.tb.gb KUNA 282337 Nov 13NNNN
