(With photos) KUWAIT, Nov 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait SC made an unprecedented achievement by winning the Asia Football Confederation (AFC) Cup for the third time in its history, after beating Qadsia SC 2-0 on Saturday.
The goals of the clash between the all-Kuwaiti AFC Cup final, held at the Friendship and Peace Stadium at Kazma SC, were scored in the second half.
Brazilian international Rogerio de Assis Coutinho's opener settled in the left corner of Qadsia goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Khaldi.
Kuwait boosted its lead when Tunisian international Issam Jemaa capitalized an assist from Rogerio and score the second goal in the 63 minute.
Qadsia was the team with most possession of the ball in the first half and Syrian international Omar Souma's header in minute 27 failed to hit the nets but was deflected by the post.
Kuwait SC succeeded in controling the tempo of the game in the second half, and defender Fahad Humoud made a tremendous save in the 78 minute.
Issam Jemaa won the AFC Cup best scorer while Qadsia's Bader Al-Mutawa, who missed the game due to injury, was named MVP.
This is Kuwait's third AFC Cup title. The first two were in 2009 and last year.
The final game was attended by Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, AFC President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, President of Kuwait Football Association (KFA) Sheikh Talal Fahad Al-Sabah and other officials. (end) bsu.bs KUNA 022232 Nov 13NNNN
