KUWAIT, June 18 (KUNA) -- National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters
(NCCAL) secretary general Ali Al-Yoha opened Tuesday an exhibition of currency
and postage stamps in the State of Kuwait, part of NCCAL's 8th summer cultural
festival.
The exhibition, co-organized by NCCAL and Kuwait amateur stamp and currency
collectors, is part of a variety of cultural-related activities held in Kuwait
for the entertainment of the public, Al-Yoha told KUNA after the opening
ceremony.
He said exhibition displayed stamps owned by amateur Kuwaiti collectors and
some dated back to the Greek and Roman eras B.C.
Vice-chairman of Kuwait amateur stamp and currency collectors Waleed
Al-Saif said the exhibition included some banknotes dated back to the 1961.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Saif some coins dated back to the rule of George V and
George VI.
The exhibition includes a pavilion displaying stamps dated back to the year
1923, said Al-Saif.
The exhibition, he added, encourage the youth to use their time in useful
hobbies. (end)
