ISLAMABAD, June 7 (KUNA) -- At least six militants were killed in a US drone strike on a compound in north Waziristan tribal area, northern Pakistan, bordering Afghanistan on Friday.
According to media reports, two missiles were fired by an unmanned aircraft at a compound in Shawal area of North Waziristan killing at least six militants.
Pakistan security forces have been carrying operation in North Waziristan against the militants for years. According to some media reports there is possibility of hitting of "some high value target" in the drone strike.
Pakistan has condemned the drone strikes in its territory several times and considered it as the violation of the sovereignty of the country. This is the first drone strike since the newly elected Nawaz Sharif was sworn in as prime minister this week. (end) sbk.bs KUNA 072257 Jun 13NNNN
