KUWAIT, April 24 (KUNA) -- National Assembly Speaker Ali Fahad Al-Rashed
praised on Wednesday His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak
Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for his decision to postpone presenting the media draft law
to parliament, pending further review.
The delay is a right step taken by the government, and would allow
parliament, and media outlets to have more dialogue in this respect, and the
government expressed readiness to cooperate with the National Assembly and
media, Al-Rashed said in a statement.
The Speaker also noted that views by various media outlets must be taken
seriously, particularly as the law concerns them, adding that the government
response in this regard deserves praise.
Al-Rashed called also on the government and representatives of various
media outlets to review the draft amendments and to reach an appropriate form
of the bill. (end)
