KUWAIT, April 1 (KUNA) -- Three persons convicted of murder were executed on Monday, an official of the Ministry of Interior said.
The death sentence against the three convicts was carried out by the department of verdicts' execution of the Ministry of Interior, with attendance of the chief of the execution prosecution, attorneys, ministry officers and media personnel.

Justice Mohammad Al-Duaij, the chief of the execution prosecution, said in a statement the death penalty was taken in line with a Koranic verse that stipulates that the death sentence sets an example for deterrence against would-be offenders.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah endorsed the death sentence last week.
The chief judge of the Court of Cassation had issued an order to carry out the death verdict and the public prosecutor set today as the date for the execution of the three convicts by gallows

Al-Duaij added the media personnel were allowed to attend the execution with the aim of setting an example of deterrence against others with tendencies to be criminals, "so that people would witness that such verdicts are being executed." There are 48 others on the death row, he confirmed, noting that these death verdicts "have been submitted to His Highness the Amir for approval." He thanked the ministry personnel for their enormous efforts in clamping down on criminals and apprehending perpetrators of crimes.
The trio have been convicted of perpetrated murder. Thaher Al-Otaibi, a stateless resident, had murdered his wife, his son and daughter and attempted to kill his other daughter with gunfire.
The other executed convict, Faisal Al-Otaibi, a Saudi citizen, had stabbed his friend several times with a sharp knife causing his death and the third one, Pervez Gholam, a Pakistani, had hanged to death a man and a woman with a rope. (end) am.afb.ysa.rk KUNA 011242 Apr 13NNNN
