GCC chief condemns attempts to destabilize Bahrain

RIYADH, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Dr. Abullatif Al-Zayani has strongly condemned attempts to destabilize the Kingdom of Bahrain, by planting terrorist cells to plot criminal acts that would jeopardize the safety and security of citizens and residents in the country.
Al-Zayani emphasized the supportive stance of the GCC states of Bahrain's measures aimed at safeguarding its security and stability.
He meanwhile praised the existing cooperation and coordination among the highly efficient GCC security directorates which contributed in averting terror plots by eliminating the terror cells that have mal-intentions.
The GCC Secretary General warned of desperate attempts aimed at reigniting violence and spreading chaos and hampering the political process in Bahrain at a time when the all-encompassing National Consensus Dialogue is moving forward with participation of all active political players in the Bahraini community amidst positive and optimistic atmosphere.
Al-Zayani urged the international community to denounce such terrorist practices which go against religions and international laws and threaten the security and stability of the region as a whole.(end) ab.nbs.nfm KUNA 211229 Feb 13NNNN
