HAIKOU, China, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Consul General to Guangzhou,
Abdulwahab Al-Sager, praised tourism potential of Hainan Province, hoping to
diversify economic cooperation with its island.
This statement came during Al-Sager's meeting with Ji Wenlin, the Mayor of
Haikou City, capital of Hainan Province, in response to an official invitation
received from the city's government for a three-day consular delegation visit
from all countries approved by Guangzhou city, which included a discussion
over ASEAN.
During the meeting, which brought together Mr. Ji and the consul general,
Al-Sager said that this significant visit to Hainan Province coincides with
the Asia Cooperation Dialogue summit (ACD), held in Kuwait and opened by His
Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
He also mentioned Kuwait's first participation in Canton Fair in Guanghzou,
which reflects Kuwait's approach to increase interconnection, bilateral
cooperation and mechanism development with the Asian countries as part of
Kuwait's faith in the Asian dimension.
For his part, Mr. Ji stressed the importance of finding ways and mechanisms
of cooperation in the fields of investment, oil and tourism as he welcomed
government and private sector institutions, especially in Kuwait, to search
for investment opportunities in the island.
The Consul General showed readiness to facilitate the tasks of the Chinese
companies based in Hainan, wishing to invest in Kuwait, as part of the
consulate's efforts to strengthen relations with China in all domains.
Hainan Island, which is located 18 miles away from Guangdong, is known to
hold the significant Boao Forum for Asia, and is considered one of the most
important tourist destinations in China that is characterized by its mild
climate all year round. (end)
