KUWAIT, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- Assistant Director-General of Kuwait Municipality
for Survey Sector Affairs Eng. Abdullah Assad Emadi unveiled on Wednesday
projects to modernize the field surveying and aerial photography works across
Kuwait.
The projects include one to launch, operate and maintain a network of
points of interest (POI) nationwide based on the Global Navigation Satellite
System (GNSS), Emadi told KUNA.
"Experts and topographers will use the planned POIs and some 13 control
stations as reference points for field surveying which will help accelerate
the implementation of projects and control information," he pointed out.
"The POIs will be connected to satellites and the internet around the clock
and replace more than 300 standing ground stations in Kuwait; they will also
replace the GPS-based points of interest.
"The system will depend on appliances that will be fixed at secure places
which could be changed in the future if need be," Emadi added.
The project costing up to KD 180,000 will take two year to complete, he
said noting that the Central Tenders Commission approved a bid the project
which waits a final approval by the State Audit Bureau. (end)
