KUWAIT, Sept 26 (KUNA) --
1962 -- Abdulaziz Hamada, one of the most prominent Kuwaiti clerics who
worked as chief judge, teacher, Imam and orator, passes away at the age of 68.
He was the first to propose the formation of Al-Awqaf Department in 1948 to
keep in custody and invest funds of orphans.
1977 -- The State of Kuwait approves an agreement on the establishment of
the Arab Mineral Resources Organization, signed in Rabat on July 15, 1977.
1990 -- The Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah praises, at the
45th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the stances of member
states that are supporting the right of Kuwait in confronting the Iraqi
invasion. He voices optimism on possible settlement of the Gulf crisis based
on world support for Kuwait's stances.
1992 -- Issue of decree 178/92 on formation of the Kuwaiti Studies and
Research Center, to be affiliated to the cabinet. The center is established as
a national source for data and knowledge on the history of Kuwait and all
relevant political, economic, social and other affairs, as well as making
available all related documents.
1994 -- Issue of law decree 94/200 on formation of the Police Academy.
According to ministerial order number 94/765, the study years are extended to
four starting from the academic year 1992/1993, and this is applied to batch
22, with cadets receiving bachelor degrees in police sciences. In 1997, the
academy becomes known as Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences.
1995 -- The State of Kuwait signs the bi-dimensional seismic survey
agreement concerning oil exploration processes. (end)
