Kuwait setting up system to pin point any infringement on state properties

KUWAIT, July 18 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Finance has worked out a contract with an international consultancy company as a prelude to tendering a project for setting up a geographic data system.
The ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that it had drawn up the deal with the international consultancy, "Jiscon," because of the daily need for geographic maps. Moreover, it is designed to build a full geographic information system whereby a user can keep and easily retrieve maps and documents.
Such documents and data enable the relevant authorities to pin point infringements on state properties, extent of such breaches and cost of restoration and removal of illegally-built structures.
A broad team, made up of six smaller groups, has been tasked with coordination with the international consultants in the phases of executing the venture.
The ministry organized, last Sunday, a workshop for all the involved teams, with attendance of a group of international advisers, during which requirements, work frameworks and needs of users were discussed. Another one is due to be held on Thursday to discuss proposals by the international group. (end) mjb.ysa.rk KUNA 181250 Jul 12NNNN
