Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi
PARIS, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is keen on promoting culture and education, providing all individuals with an equal chance to expand their knowledge and understanding, said a Kuwaiti Minister here Saturday.
Speaking to the 36th General Assembly of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi said that Kuwait provided 198 scholarships on annual basis for students around the globe to continue to pursue knowledge.
He noted that Kuwait cooperated with UNESCO within such domain opening 45 schools and two clubs that were dedicated to the goals of sustainable development.
The Minister also stressed that his nation provided equal educational opportunities for students from both gender as well as students with disability.
Kuwait also was eager to develop science and preserve the environment via efforts of several local institutes, said Al-Mulaifi.
In regards to protecting world heritage, the minister noted that his country was very interested in such topics, namely within the preserving the cultural heritage of the Palestinian people via cooperation with UNESCO.
The Kuwaiti minister hoped that the current Assembly, which began its meeting last Tuesday, would allocate a portion of its agenda to address UNESCO's global development goals. (end) tm.gta KUNA 291303 Oct 11NNNN
