BAGHDAD, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- Three fiery blasts rocked the southern holy city
of Karbala on Sunday, killing at least 11 people, police said.
A police source told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) an explosive charge went off
near the headquarters of the immigration department in Karbala. It was
followed with two blasts, caused by booby-trapped cars, in the district of Bab
Tweirij in the center of the city.
The three explosions killed 11 people, wounded 40 others and panicked
residents of the city and its suburbs.
Karbala receives, daily, thousands of Iraqi and non-Iraqi Shiite Muslim
pilgrims to perform religious services at the sacred sites. (end)
