PARIS, Sept 2 (KUNA) - French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe held talks here
Friday with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Al-Arabi to discuss the Libyan
situation in view of the latest developments.
The two officials "agreed to continue to work together to support Libya and
the unfreezing of the assets of this country," the French Foreign Ministry
said.
Juppe told Al-Arabi of "the determination of France to bring a halt to the
violence against civilians (and) he praised the position of the Arab League in
this regard."
France and Britain, the main actors in the NATO operations in Libya, have
vowed to continue air strikes against forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi as long
as they still present a threat to the civilian population.
Juppe and Al-Arabi also discussed the G8 "partnership" plan that aims to
provide financing for Egypt and Tunisia during their transition phase and
which could also include Libya later on. (End)
