Egypt releases Iranian diplomat

CAIRO, May 29 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian Supreme State Security released Sunday the Iranian diplomat Qasim Al-Hosseini who was interrogated for allegedly spying on Egypt.
The Middle East News Agency (MENA) said that the diplomat who was arrested yesterday on suspicions of spying and gathering economic, political, and military information on Egypt and several GCC states.
The official was released after confirming his position as a diplomat, said the source, adding that the diplomat had increased his intelligence activities during the February 25th revolution.
Hosseini gathered information about the political organizations in Egypt and Iranian funded deals for sides that was willing to cooperate with Iran.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry confirmed the identity of the official who works for the Iranian Interest Section in Cairo while the case was registered as a threat to national security. (pickup previous) rg.gta KUNA 291856 May 11NNNN
