BEIJING, April 15 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Cultural Week in Beijing, which
began on April 12, had helped in exposing Kuwait's rich cultural heritage to
the Chinese people and this was possible through the efforts of the Kuwaiti
cultural delegation.
The Kuwaiti delegation, consisting of representatives of several companies,
authorities, and ministries, provided the Chinese people with a sample of
Kuwait's history and heritage.
The Kuwaiti Television Band, the delegation's main attraction along with
the eastern music section and folkroic Singer Fatoomah, had succeeded in their
mission to involve the Chinese people with Kuwaiti folklore music.
Taking a quick glance at the Chinese audience just showed how some of the
people are trying to emulate, for instance, the Kuwaiti clap and despite not
able to succeed, they continue to try which signified that the music had hit
the mark.
Also the instrument caught the attention of some Chinese musicians who took
a chance to try them and succeeded in playing Chinese melodies on eastern
instruments.
Other than the music, a Kuwaiti miniature ship builder was amongst the
delegation.
Builder Rashed Al-Mesri told KUNA that his participation was to provide the
Chinese people with an idea of his profession, adding that he had received
offers to buy his miniature Kuwaiti ships but unfortunately they were only for
display.
Al-Mesri affirmed that wearing the Kuwaiti traditional clothes also
attracted the Chinese, taking photos with him as a memory of their interaction
with the Kuwaiti people.
On her part, Jihan Farhan said her participation as representatives of the
Ministry of Information was to coordinate the efforts of the cultural
delegation which included the television band and others.
Fahran also affirmed that she was dazzled by the reaction of the Chinese
audience and their ongoing encouragement to the cultural delegation.
Plastic artist Ebrahim Habeeb also commented on the event saying that he
was swarmed by the audience due his outstanding talent in Arabic calligraphy.
Habeeb noted that he was representing the plastic artists of Kuwait and was
invited to the Cultural Week in Beijing to showcase his talents to the Chinese
people.
The Kuwaiti delegation also included representatives from Kuwait the
Ministry Public Works.
Speaking to KUNA, the Ministry's Public Relations head Hamid Bushehri said
that the ministry was keen on partaking in such event as part of bolstering
relations with China.
The Ministry saw that its participation was paramount to further boost ties
in addition to help the State of Kuwait to realize its ambitious development
plan via exchanging expertise on the public works domain.
He also took the chance to thank the Kuwaiti diplomatic corps in Beijing
for its outstanding organization of the event that showcased Kuwaiti culture
to the fellow Chinese. (end)
