KUWAIT, Nov 10 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of State for Development Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Sabah stressed the need to modernize statistics related to the country's development plan.
According to a statement by his media office on Wednesday, Sheikh Ahmad after a meeting with head of the central statistics administration, Abdullah Sahar, stressed the importance of statistics and their effect on precisely outlining development plans.
The meeting discussed what has thus far been accomplished on laying the groundwork on the census documentation program being carried out in the country for the first time, the statement noted.
The meeting also discussed building a national taskforce specialised in the issue according to international standards, in cooperation with Kuwait University and other academic institutions.
Sheikh Ahmad was briefed on the statistics body's recent achievements like developing a number of crucial statistical indexes like the consumer price index, the wholesale price index and foreign trade statistics.
Other issues discussed were the development of the input and output system, and the patterns of development-related indexes in support of the half-yearly report of the current year. (end) mga.sd KUNA 101617 Nov 10NNNN
