KUWAIT, Oct 8 (KUNA) -- 1961 -- The State of Kuwait establishes diplomatic relations with Britain and appoints Khalifa Al-Ghunaim as its first Ambassador in London.
1961 -- Kuwait is divided into 10 electoral constituencies, each electing two members of Parliament.
2002 -- A US Marine is killed and another injured in an exchange of fire with Kuwaiti gunmen on Failaka Island.
2007 -- Sheikh Salem Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah passes away at the age of 69. He worked in the diplomatic service and was appointed as the country's ambassador to the United Kingdom and the US.
