RABAT, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- The Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural
Organization (ISESCO) called here Friday the international community to exert
immediate effort to stop the "Zionist settlement plans in Jerusalem" that aim
to Judaize the holy city and kick out its Palestinian residents.
In a press release, ISESCO voiced the call to member countries of the
Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), permanent members of the United
Nations Security Council (UNSC), international and legal organizations, and
bodies concerned with peace and justice in the world.
It said that Israeli forces are planning to provide housing units to 2,000
new Jewish settlers in the city and to connect Israeli settlements in the West
Bank, making Palestinian residential areas scattered isolated islets.
ISESCO pointed out that Israeli forces were also expanding settlements in
the West Bank, especially around Jerusalem and in Palestinian neighborhoods in
Old Jerusalem.
It emphasized that it was important that the presidency of the Islamic
summit takes a strong stance as soon as possible and to hold an immediate
meeting to discuss the dangerous developments that threaten the holy city.(end)
