SANAA, Aug 18 (KUNA) -- Yemen's Ministry of Public Health and Population
announced here on Tuesday the first death as a result of swine flu infection;
a citizen aged 40 in Ad-Dali province, southern Yemen.
The ministry's statement added that the man had never left Yemen in his
entire life, without elaborating any further.
Two cases of the disease found yesterday were also revealed by the
ministry, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 17; 13 of them
foreigners and four nationals.
The two cases are of a young girl and a woman, both Yemeni nationals who
also never left the country and had not come in contact with any previous
cases, a ministry official said.
The official added that the two cases mentioned they had attended a wedding
ceremony including guests from neighbouring Arab Gulf countries.
The ministry earlier said that two cases have recovered from the virus and
are safely back to their everyday lives. (end)
