ISTANBUL, Aug 17 (KUNA) -- Visiting Qatari Amir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa
Al-Thani on Monday held talks with Turkish President Abdullah Gul on regional
and international issues plus bilateral relations, mainly the economic one.
According to Turkish semi-official news Agency of Anatolia, the talks,
which took place at Ciragan Palace, were "very fruitful", as they revolved
around means of cooperation in the energy sector and discussed the likelihood
of providing Turkey with Qatari liquefied gas.
Gul, in a press conference, pointed out that trade volume between the two
countries reached USD 1.5 billion.
On his part, Sheikh Hamad appreciated Turkey's role in championing Arab
causes, especially the Palestinian one.
The agency said that both countries agreed to provide Turkey with some four
billion cubic feet of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
A number of agreements in many venues were signed during the visit, in
addition to many joint ventures in education, health and culture. (pickup
