LONDON, July 6 (KUNA) -- British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was meeting
French President Nicholas Sarkozy in the picturesque French town of Evian
Monday in the run-up to the G8 summit in Italy.
The summit comes only days ahead of the gathering of the G8 in the Italian
town of L'Aquila and willl allow the two leaders to exchange views on a range
of issues including climate change, international problems and in particular
Iran, British officials said.
The 27 EU countries have already agreed to cut greenhouse gas emission by
20 percent of 1990 levels by 2020.
On the economic front,Brown and Sarkozy willl discuss new efforts to
overcome the global financial crisis and stabilise the oil markets, the
officials added.
Among the other topics to be raised will be immigration controls,
especially at the port of Calais in northern France, where hundreds of
migrants try to sneak onboard trucks or ferry trains to the UK.
President Sarkozy visited London last time in April 2009 to take part in
the G20 economic summit which was devoted to tackling the global economic
