BAGHDAD, April 16 (KUNA) -- At least 16 Iraqis were killed and more than 60
others were wounded on Thursday in a suicide bombing inside an Iraqi military
base in Habaniya, west of Iraq.
A colonel in the Iraqi army, who refused to reveal his identity, said in a
phone call with Kuwait news agency (KUNA) that the explosion was caused by a
suicide bomber disguised in military uniforms who entered the restaurant at a
military base in Habaniyah with soldiers eating lunch, killing 16 people and
wounding 60 others, most of them Iraqi soldiers.
He said the military authorities had begun an investigation to determine
how the suicide bomber infiltrated into the army camp and broke through the
security fortifications.
