BRUSSELS, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- Belgium welcomed on Friday decisions made during
Kuwait's economic summit which was held this week and its solidarity with
suffering of Palestinians in Gaza Strip, particularly the initiative regarding
rebuilding efforts after Israeli three-week aggression.
Belgian Embassies Advisor in the foreign ministry Franoise Gustan told KUNA
that her country welcomes the decisions which "demonstrate the will of Arab
solidarity to contribute in reconstruction efforts in Gaza."
During this week economy summit here, His Highness the Amir of Kuwait
Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah announced at the opening of the summit
the country's pledge of USD 34 million to cover the needs of Relief and Works
Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to meet the immediate needs of the
Palestinian brothers.
Regarding other decisions in the summit, the Belgian Advisor confirmed that
the summit showed keenness to boost Arab integration work, noting her
country's support such step and decision.
The Belgian official said the European Union has always supported the
process of regional integration and coordination as it "easier to negotiate
with the regional groups other than with each separately." (end)
