KUWAIT, Jan 21 (KUNA) -- The cabinet convened Wednesday at Kuwait International Airport to discuss the outcomes of the Arab Economic Summit "In Solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza." During the meeting, presided by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the ministers were briefed by Deputy Premier, Foreign Minister and Acting Oil Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah with outcomes of the summit, which concluded here yesterday.
Sheikh Mohammad noted that the summit was successful in bringing introducing a positive spirit and a new methodology for joint Arab action, as well as founding new bases for boosting Arab development and elevating the standard of living of Arab citizens.
The ministers, on their part, lauded the summit for its emphasis on the situation in Gaza and the plight of Palestinians who suffered under the monstrous attacks of the Israeli forces.
They noted that children, women, the elderly, and the defenseless were not immune to these Israeli actions, and that destruction included mosques, hospitals, schools, and headquarters of humanitarian organizations.
The ministers described these attacks as inhumane and said they violated all international conventions, while overlooking calls of the international community to stop this carnage, destruction and terrorism on the part of Israeli against Palestinians.
Moreover, they underscored the fact that the summit hailed the people of Gaza for their heroism, and had reiterated the need to take all necessary measures to guarantee an end to Israeli violence and to hold Israel legally accountable for these crimes. The summit, they noted, also called for providing the necessary support for the reconstruction of Gaza.
Furthermore, the ministers noted that the Arab leaders discussed all issues pertaining to boosting joint Arab economic action so as to achieve the aspirations of the people toward integration, especially given the political and economic developments on the regional and international arenas.
Such developments require vision if they are to be tackled, such that security and development may be guaranteed in the Arab world and positive decisions be made to support Arab cooperation, they noted.
The cabinet expressed its content and pride with the outcomes of the summit and its success, and expressed its congratulations to His Highness the Amir on this achievement.
The ministers noted the prevailing spirit of cooperation that coincided with efforts to tackle the challenges of the Arab world and achieving the aspirations of its people.
They lauded the sincere efforts of His Highness the Amir in achieving the "historic" Arab conciliation and seeking to overcome difference to create a more positive atmosphere, which they said reflected the respect that the leaders had for His Highness the Amir.
Moreover, the cabinet expressed its appreciation to Saudi's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud for his contribution of USD one billion for the reconstruction of Gaza, and lauded His Highness the Amir's contribution of USD 34 million to UNRWA.
The cabinet also expressed its profound pride in Kuwait's contribution of USD 500 million to the USD two billion fund established for financing small and medium enterprises in the Arab world, which they said was vital and aimed at improving the living of Arabs and providing small projects with the financial resources needed in a bid to cut unemployment and poverty.
They also underlined the other resolutions issued by the summit with the aim of achieving sustainable development, executing infrastructure projects, education, services, food security and Arab economic integration.
They prayed that these resolutions would bear fruit and reflect positively on the Arab nations.
The cabinet thanked Deputy Premier, Foreign Minister and Acting Oil Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salam Al-Sabah for his efforts in following up the meetings of Arab foreign ministers.
