(with photos) RABAT, Jan 20 (KUNA) -- The two-day Arab Economic, Social and Development Summit which has just come to a close in Kuwait earlier Tuesday, proved to be a complete success, a Moroccan MP said.
"The historic event is a real gain for the State of Kuwait as well as the other Arab countries," Thawriya Al-Sharqi, member of parliament from Morocco's People's Movement party, told KUNA here.
The speech, made by Moroccan King Mohammad VI to the summit, serves as a road map for strengthening cooperation among the Arab countries in all domains particularly in the field of economic integration.
"The historic and comprehensive speech is pivotal to mending the political rifts among the Arab countries and enhancing inter-Arab reconciliation," said Al-Sharqi, who is also chairperson of Moroccan female parliamentarians' forum.
The Moroccan monarch tackled, in his speech, all key Arab issues on top of which are the Palestine question, pan-Arab economic integration, trade liberalization, food security and the development of Arab Maghreb union.
"The summit has highlighted from the very beginning the commitment to back the Palestine cause, reconstruct Gaza Strip after the 23-day Israeli offensive and accelerate the Arab economic integration," she asserted.
Meanwhile, the Moroccan MP hailed the initiative, stated by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah during the summit, to contribute USD 500 million to the post-war reconstruction of Gaza.
She also hailed the support offered to the Palestinian people by Morocco, Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries during and after the brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza. (end) sf.gb.
