Arab Eco. Summit about "honesty, seriousness" - Syria

KUWAIT, Jan 20 (KUNA) -- Syrian political and media advisor at the Syrian presidency Minister Buthaina Shaaban said Tuesday the Arab economic summit in Kuwait was a "summit of honesty and seriousness in the Arab action and decision making." Shaaban, in a statement to KUNA, said the inter-Arab conciliation began with an initiative by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah who brought the Arab leaders together.
"We can call this meeting the summit of honesty and seriousness in the Arab action and decision making," she said.
Shaaban said Kuwait, Syria and some Arab countries wanted to build the future of the Arab on clear and firm basis.
The Arab people, she added, showed great concern of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians in Gaza and they were united to supporting the Palestinian resistance.
Shaaban said conciliation was a very good start but time was needed to reach the objectives. "The most important thing is that we have started examining the core issues and agreement on positions not only on sentences which please everyone," she added.
Syria, added the advisor, was not looking for the lights but for a genuine work for the sake of Arab conciliation.
She hoped the Arab Economic summit would have tangible results.
She praised Sheikh Sabah's contribution with USD 500 million to support an Arab initiative to supporting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and a USD 34 million donation to meet immediate needs of the UNRWA in occupied Palestinian territories. (end) kt KUNA 201701 Jan 09NNNN
