Kuwait press extol Arab reconciliation at Kuwait summit

KUWAIT, Jan 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti newspapers on Tuesday commended Arab reconciliation achieved during the Arab Economic Summit as an exceptional success for Kuwait and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the summit host.
They say this unforgettable success will be written in history, hailing Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for his reconciliatory initiative.
Under the headline "Victory of Kuwait", Al-Qabas daily editorializes that Arab reconciliation will constitute a great support for Gaza and the Palestinian struggle for an independent state.
It also hails the unprecedented summit as an opportunity for laying the cornerstone of Arab economic unity modeled on European unity.
It concludes by greeting Kuwait's achievement, which shows that it has fully regained its Arab role on both political and economic levels.
Al-Anbaa carries an editorial entitled "Prince of Diplomacy Land of Friendship and Peace", saying His Highness the Amir's success in Arab reconciliation will be held to his credit forever.
"From here, the land of friendship and peace, the brothers have decided to turn over a new chapter to bury the hatchet, to spread reassurance, and to boost public confidence," it says.
It hopes reconciliation could wipe out Arab divide over the Gaza crisis.
Al-Seyassah meanwhile hails the Saudi King's address during the summit as a "speech of reasoning and wisdom".
"Amid this dimness in which our nation lived and which harbingered unpredictable consequences, the Saudi monarch's speech came as a ray of light and glimpse of hope, putting people on the right path," it says.
Finally, Al-Watan terms the Arab scene now as totally different from the pre-summit period when splits and divide were deeper.
This comes thanks to His Highness the Amir's belief in Arab unity as a must, it says.(end) zab.mt KUNA 201315 Jan 09NNNN
