Razzooqi: preoccupations of layman among top priorities of Amir, Mubarak

(with photos) GENEVA, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- The preoccupations of the layman and woman in the Arab world is inherently connected to the highest priorities of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak when they launched the call for the forthcoming Arab Economic, Development, and Social Summit which kicks off in Kuwait Monday, said Kuwaiti head of mission in Geneva Ambassador Dharar Abdul-Razzak Razzooqi.
The Ambassador told KUNA that the summit will attend to infrastructure projects and all that can faciliatate the freedom of movement and goods between the Arab states which would reflect positively on the people in the Arab world.
He added that those projects will include mega projects in the fields of electricity, railroads, and other projects.
Razzooqi noted that the Arab leaders will attend to those topics as a follow-up after the Summit since those projects will benefit positively the Arab citizens.
He expressed his regret that the Arab world suffers from a huge rate of unemployment that has reached the level of some 20 million people.
He added that this problem will not be resolved without dealing with it at the highest level and in a manner that would break the obstacles holding back investments within the infrastructure field.
Ambassador Razzooqi said all now look forward to the establishment of the Arab Free Zone and pushing ahead inter-Arab trade, since current levels are weak and do not reflect ambition.
He stressed that the mega changes in the region after the removal of the threat presented by the Saddam regime in Iraq would help in launching a number of economic initiatives which would reflect positively on all the Arab countries.
